يكشف هذا البحث عن منهج أصيل تميّز به الراغب الأصفهاني في كتابه "مفردات ألفاظ القرآن" الذي يقوم على تحديد إحدى كلمات الجذر على أنها الأصل، ومنه اشتقت سائر كلماته. وكان الغالب عنده أن يكون الأصل في كل جذر كلمة منه تدل على شيء محسوس، ثم تتطور إلى معنى مجرد. اعتمد الراغب في "مفردات ألفاظ القرآن" على ردّ الكلمات إلى الأصل الذي أخذت منه لفهم الكلمة القرآنية فهما عميقا دقيقا، وغينا صحيحا، فكان له أثر بالغ في رسم منهج علمي جدير أن يُعطى حقّه من الدراسة والبحث والتطبيق. ويركز البحث على أثر معرفة أصل الكلمة وفق منهج الراغب في أربعة جوانب وهي: بيان المعنى، والتمييز بين الحقيقة والمجاز، والفروق اللغوية، ومعرفة تاريخ الكلمة وبيئتها. وهذه المسائل الأربعة من أهم ما تحتاجه الكلمة لفهمها فهما عميقا ولتفسيرها تفسيرا دقيقا.
